While most of the country celebrated National Night Out nearly two months ago on August 6, national organizers didn't consider the heat we experience here in the south. With those soaring temperatures in mind, each year here in Northwest Louisiana, we elect to move that night to a little later in the year when things are slightly more comfortable. Tonight is that night and several of our local law enforcement agencies will be out tonight helping the public to celebrate.
During National Night Out, residents are encouraged to take a public stand against crime by participating in neighborhood gatherings and crime prevention events. In a story from KTBS , we learn that a huge number of Shreveport neighborhoods are planning to gather tonight and celebrate with block parties.
