Lionel Williams of Huntsville was killed in January. Police say he and three exotic dancers planned to rob three men when one of the men shot and killed Williams. Two of the female suspects, year-old Brianna Ivey and year old Jessica Duckworth, were supposed to have preliminary hearings Tuesday on robbery charges. But their cases got waived to the grand jury. Fairfield police say on January 15, Ivey, Duckworth and year-old Tempest Garner, all of whom are from Huntsville and all of whom are reportedly exotic dancers, came to a Birmingham club where they met three men from Birmingham.
At some point, police say the girls agreed to follow the guys to a Fairfield Hotel and do some private dancing for them. Once at the hotel, police say one of the dancers was caught on camera leaving the room and opening a side door for another man, year old Lionel Williams. A few minutes later, police say Williams stepped inside of the room where the three Birmingham men were, with his gun drawn, in an attempt to rob them.
When Williams turned his back, police say one of the men shot and killed Williams. Police charged all three women with first degree robbery, believing they and Williams planned the crime. One of the female suspects, Tempest Garner, is also charged with capital murder. Tuesday, William's family was in court. They say that's when they learned the three Birmingham men will not be charged in this case. The District Attorney on the case says that's because those three men were the victims in this case.
But William's family says police haven't done a thorough investigation. Williams cousin Shaneva Davis said they gave already flooded the police department with letters about this situation. They say next they are going to the Attorney General and will hire their own attorney.
