At past meetings of USDA Experimental Forests and Ranges researchers, one of the topics identified for cross site synthesis was stream biogeochemistry and responses to disturbances. Since those meetings, a group of Forest Service, academic, and NGO scientists have been collaboratively working to synthesize and archive stream chemistry data from watershed studies in Experimental Forests and Ranges.
We feel that these long term studies are extremely valuable in addressing major questions involving forests and streams across North America and span an amazing gradient of background conditions.
