Singer-songwriter Amy Shark is set to play the Gladiator star's daughter in the new picture, which is currently in production in Thailand. Co-starring alongside Neighbours actor Daniel MacPherson and Luke Hemsworth, this will be the first time the year-old Australian Idol judge has ever acted in a film. Amy, whose real name is Amy Louise Billings, shared the news with her followers on Instagram on Tuesday.
She added: 'I'm in Bangkok for a week, filming my very first movie, like real movie I guess. There's so much to say on it so I'll just wait to fill you guys in more β there's just so much to talk about.
Singer-songwriter Amy Shark is set to play the Gladiator star's daughter in the new picture, which is now in production in Thailand. Amy included a picture of herself dressed in a black outfit and baseball cap and posing with the movie's script which has been stamped 'top secret'. According to Newswire, Crowe, 60, personally picked the hitmaker for the film. Meanwhile, Variety reported last September that the US-produced film was to be co-written by the Oscar winner alongside American screenwriter David Frigero, who is also a producer on the picture.
Details released about the film reveal that it is set in the highly competitive and brutal world of mixed martial arts MMA. Crowe portrays a veteran trainer who helps MacPherson's character get back into shape for a significant bout at the leading MMA event, One Championship.
According to Variety, One Championship, a prominent combat sports promotion, is backing the film. Their support includes allowing the production team to film fight scenes at an event in Bangkok this weekend. Meanwhile, Amy is also set to appear in the upcoming comedy-spoof Zombie Plane. It comes after Amy hit back at accusations she's a 'sellout' by becoming a member of Australian Idol's judging panel. The Aussie singer joined the judging panel of the smash hit singing competition in and was welcomed back last season and will return this year.
