To browse Academia. Bas ter Haar Romeny ed. The use of the Greek text as an alternative to the Peshitta of the Old Testament, or as an addition to it, would seem to have been an early development, born out of necessity.
When translations of Greek commentaries were made, the translators found that their own Syriac Bible was not exactly the same as the Bible the Greek exegetes were writing about. It goes without saying, however, that the Syrians also developed different opinions on the value of the various witnesses. In this paper I give a somewhat rough sketch of this development, in which I concentrate on the West Syrian side of the picture, as evidenced in an exegetical collection handed down to us in one of the manuscripts collected by Moses of Nisibis, which found its way via Deir es-Suryan to the British Library in London, and which I call, for want of anything better, the London Collection.
The article considers two areas of the most recent international historiographical debate: communism as a global historical phenomenon, marked from the beginning by transnational forms of organization and coordination; and the role of communism in the global history of the twentieth-century, from the first post-war period to the processes of decolonization, from the collapse of empires to the attempts to devise alternative models of modernization.
Building on an updated bibliographic survey, the article considers how this set of interwoven problems has been approached, researched, and interpreted. This artifact sets the world's Gold Standard. The legislative texts that are repeated in the Pentateuch were explored from the perspective of literary and communicative strategy. James W. Watts suggested that the laws that are intended for public reading not only emphasized instruction and persuasion, but that their repetition also had an impact on the very formation of these laws.
Therefore, by examining the hermeneutics of the formation of parallel laws, a refinement of biblical logic can be uncovered. Though Josh 20 is out of the Pentateuchal legislature, nevertheless it is a concrete example of the repetition of the juridical regulations concerning the cities of refuge Exod ; Num ; Deut They have become the subject of research both in redactional studies and literary studies.
