The series where I take a nice little promo and analyze it bit by bit. And try to find out what it is saying between the lines. So, guys, in case you aren't aware of that yet, the World Cup already started. Why would you care about that? Well, you wouldn't, but that's all that matters on my life right now. So, I am just warning you that I won't be that active for the next month. However, I started this series, and I am going to finish it. No matter what happens, I will post one episode of BTL every friday.
Now, back to the blog, the scenario is One Night Stand , and if you know anything about ECW, you know that this was a very important night in the history of that company, as a matter of fact it actually had it's impact on WWE. For those of you who may not know what this PPV was: you know when a series ends, and then the entire cast get together for one more episode?
That's basically what happened. Bear in mind that this was before WWE's Revival of the brand. The main people behind the event were Tommy Dreamer, and of course, Paul E. Dangerously himself, Paul Heyman, who by the way is the protagonist of this blog. And on the middle of the show, Paul Heyman made a surprise appearence, to probably the biggest standing ovation to a non-wrestler ever. He was really received as a hero, and you can definitely see why.
He cut a worked shoot promo, this type of promo later received the name of Pipebomb, thanks to CM Punk. After a standing ovation by the ECW crowd, Paulrus grabbed the mic, and so, he said this:. My eyes are red because I was in the back smoking a joint with Van Dam I don't really have anything to say here, I just think this is a funny line so I highlighted it. No biggie I have a need in my heart to thank Tod Gordon for giving me the chance to be creative and book for you crazy bastards.
This is not exactly fun, but I think it is nice to know who Paul Heyman was thanking and what he was thanking them for. Who actually gave Paul Heyman the Head Booker spot, before selling it to him on mid Ron Buffone is a Television director who had a major involvement with Extreme Championship Wrestling. He actually even became a producer for the company. I guess this was a nice gesture from Paul E.
