Deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office said a former police officer is a suspected child predator. Investigators said Shane Grundstrom, 57, of Church Point, was arrested on two counts of molestation of a juvenile. Grundstrom resigned from the Church Point Police Department earlier this month, ahead of charges being filed. Carencro police said a year-old Carencro High School student is fighting for her life after crashing a pickup truck on I Investigators added the girl lost control and the truck flipped several times.
Carencro Police Chief David Anderson told News 15 the girl was evidently not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck. She is hospitalized in critical condition. The civil service board in St. Martinville will determine whether the city's deputy police chief can return back to work next week after he was fired in October.
The board did not come to a conclusion Tuesday night on the status of Cody Laperouse, who was fired after threatening to kill a man after he tried to attack him, after nearly three hours of testimony from two officers, Laperouse and St. Martinville Chief Ricky Martin.
The meeting followed an appeal by Laperouse's attorney. The gravesites of several U. KLFY News 10 reports that several bronze plaques were stolen from gravesites in the cemetery and now authorities are looking for those who stole them.
Police in Lafayette are looking for the driver who damaged a large, fairly new roundabout located at the intersection of Kaliste Saloom and E Broussard roads. Authorities said someone drove through the center of the roundabout and did donuts, causing damage to the grassy areas of the roundabout, with mud scattered around the perimeter.
