A convicted sex offender who tried to groom girls online stayed with a mother and her children in breach of a court order, court heard. Samuel Netley, aged 27, was in a relationship with the woman without telling her he had been locked up for perverted offences. He was banned from staying overnight with children unless their parents knew of his convictions, Plymouth Crown Court heard.
Handing him a community order, a judge told him it was in the public interest to tackle his behaviour rather than jail him for a short period. Netley, of Bournemouth in Dorset, pleaded guilty to two offences of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and one of failing to comply with his notification requirements. Netley had sent sex messages and explicit pictures of himself to eight girls as young as 12 through Facebook. Ali Rafati, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said Netley formed a relationship with a woman upon his release through an online dating service.
He added that he stayed overnight in the same home as the woman and the girls on several occasions. Nicola Colwill, for Netley, said there was no suggestion he had behaved inappropriately towards the daughters.
