We will award 60 scholarships at our partner school in one of the poorest countries in Africa. After a 20 year partnership we can be confident that the teaching is child centred, progressive and inclusive.
Guinea is one of the least developed nations in the world ranking 33rd out of 51 African countries in progress in development goals. Guinea faces a learning crisis. The World bank and UNESCO estimates learning poverty to be 83 percent and believes that 98 percent of children enrolled in primary school are learning poor. Teachers are unqualified, class sizes large and resources meagre.
We support progressive, child centred and gender equal education at a school for marginalised children from the ex-refugee community with professional development and fund improvements to the educational environment such as hygiene facilities, hot meals, an IT suite and science lab WIFI and a library.
