I had never thought about height that much until I met Chinese people. It was a surprise to me to see how important height is for them in the choice of a suitable partner.
I agree that in the Chinese-speaking world height is really overrated. But that's just my opinion. Actually, Westerners are way more obsessed about height, especially Western women looking to date a guy.
It's just that Westerners are much taller to begin with, and Chinese are using global height norms in their judgements of Chinese men, so most men find themselves falling short pun intended of some global idealized standard.
