SHCWS, WEAVE, and other campus organizations have been working all month long to offer resources, education, workshops, outreach, and more to support survivors and promote a shift in culture that continuously acknowledges, believes, and supports survivors. Denim Day has been observed worldwide on the last Wednesday in April since It started after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans.
Each year we continue to wear denim to show support for survivors of sexual violence and take a stand to show that clothing does not equal consent. The resource fair will be followed by Take Back the Night, which is our annual march through campus to empower survivors and advocate for an end to sexual violence.
Take Back the Night started as a protest in March of , when women began marching on their campuses together in an organized and intentional manner, demanding a less violent future.
