A year after a Vancouver escort was charged with drugging and robbing clients here, additional counts have been laid against her involving a Calgary man.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team announced Friday that Jessica Kane, 31, has been charged with robbery, overcoming resistance by administering a drug and four counts of breaching of a release order after a year-long investigation by its human trafficking unit.
Kane allegedly committed the Calgary offences in October while out on bail on the B. A Calgary man reported that he was drugged and robbed by a woman he met on a sex-trade website. Alberta investigators believe there may be more victims who are too embarrassed or fearful to come forward. Kane was arrested by Surrey RCMP in September and charged with a series of alleged druggings and manslaughter in the death of one client. She was released on a number of conditions, including one that prohibited her from engaging in sex work. Earlier this week, two charges laid against her after a Vancouver police investigation were stayed. But Kane still faces a series of charges resulting from the Surrey RCMP investigation including seven counts of administering an overpowering drug, seven of theft, four of fraud and two of extortion.
