As of 15 January , minors living in France who have to travel abroad without an accompanying adult or a parent must have parental consent to leave the country. Parents or legal guardians can grant this consent by completing and signing a form. The consent form is mandatory and must be obtained for any travel outside of France, whether the child is travelling singly or as part of a group such as for a school trip or language exchange.
To travel as an unaccompanied minor, your child must be at least 4 years old for domestic flights or 5 years old for international flights. He or she will be looked after by airline staff throughout the journey, during departure, the flight itself and arrival. Unaccompanied minors must be taken to check-in well in advance of the check-in deadline.
The airline will give the child a folder, and he or she must keep hold of it for the entire trip. It contains their boarding card, ID, parental consent form and a personal identity form completed by their parents or legal guardians. The person who has been designated to collect the child at their destination airport must be there by the scheduled arrival time and they must be able to present ID.
