John Stephen Kiel, unexpectedly passed away in the early morning of August 8th, He was 52 years old. Husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, veteran, scouter, co-worker, friend. John went by many names. Soon John became a big brother to Brian and Jamie.
Growing up, John was very active, playing with his brothers, began his love of fishing and usually up to no good; some things never change. After high school at Mccluer North, John joined the army where he served for four years on active duty and a few years in the reserves. After a few years, John married Christine Callanan August 6, Christine fell in love with his quirky personality and helped keep John grounded.
They were a great balance for each other. John was so proud of his children and loved spending time with his family. John had many other favorite pastimes. He joined scouts with Ethan and stayed involved with Morgan through Venturing, making new scouting friends and memories; he loved the Fall Fun Rally and Swift Base. He was a master griller specializing in pork steaks. Many evenings were spent in his garage cheering on the Blues or Cardinals or just relaxing.
He and his wife were also very passionate about gardening. Fishing, swimming, crafts, BBQing, boating, and family β what could be better. Bennett Springs was another special place where John loved to spend his time, fly fishing, hiking, and enjoying a nice steak near the spring with a fire. You could always find John sitting outside, playing Candy Crush, enjoying life, and relaxing by a huge bonfire.
Silly, mischievous, generous, caring, fun-loving, positive, outdoorsy, kind, proud, a leader, considerate, adventurous, ambitious, brave, strong, charming, sincere, helpful β just a few things that describe John.
