The latest trend in cosmetic surgery for men over 50 is the scrotal lift. Also known as scrotoplasty or scrotal reduction, this is a surgical procedure which removes excess and saggy skin on the testicles to improve their aesthetic appearance.
This surgery was originally used to treat cancer patients and anyone with scrotal abnormalities and injuries. However, with the growing pressure to look good into old age, this procedure is becoming more and more popular for purely cosmetic reasons.
Performed under general anaesthetic, the excess skin is cut away and the muscle at the seam of the scrotum is re-joined to reduce scarring. Although the procedure is simple and quick, patients will experience tenderness and swelling for a few days after the surgery and are advised not to have sex or do any strenuous activities for up to six weeks. A consultant plastic surgeon and spokesperson for the British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons BAAS commented that it is mainly men over the age of 50 who are undergoing this type of procedure.
But if you do wish to undergo cosmetic surgery, always do your research into the experience of your surgeon and the reputation of the clinic. Return to news headlines. All rights reserved.
