Jerome Our week was definitely slow. We left early for San Antonio on Wednesday. It was snowing and icy but we were going to stop off at a jackpot roping. We had just got to the interstate when Hunter called to tell me that they had called off the roping due to the whether.
We weren't really sure what are plans were, but we just kept driving with no particular place to go. We didn't actually have to be in San Antonio until Friday, but we had an appointment to stop by Wild Fire Trailer Sales to get the hitch worked on from our near-disaster last fall.
We have had a temporary hitch on since then and needed to get it fixed before the rodeo season picks up this spring.
When we got just outside of Fort Worth I remembered that the rodeo was still going on. We thought that would be a good place to stop for the night. Thursday we eased our way to the trailer shop. They were kind enough to give us a replacement trailer to take with us while ours was getting fixed. After exchanging trailers we headed on to San Antonio. We pulled through the compound late in the afternoon. I say "compound" because at San Antonio the gates are heavily guarded with policemen.
You are checked and re-checked at four different points before you can head to the contestant parking area and even then we are escorted to park.
