It took months to turn the former emergency animal services building into an operational reproductive health clinic. At this time, the clinic offers medication abortion and emergency contraception. It plans to add procedures to its list of services in the near future. The clinic also provides other sexual and reproductive healthcare, including family planning, long-term contraceptives, sexual infection testing, cervical cancer screening and other routine services.
Executive Director Ali Kliegman says there is limited access to reproductive healthcare across the country, with bans in certain states forcing women to travel for services or take the matter into their own hands. This is something she says can have serious consequences. The group stood outside the building engaging in prayer and spreading word of abortion alternatives that exist in the Rockford area.
