WKRG โ The debate over fluoride in drinking water continues across Florida as public health officials, local leaders and activists discuss whether the risks outweigh the benefits. The agency is reassessing its fluoride guidelines, but no changes have been made.
Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo issued guidance in November recommending against community water fluoridation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Environmental Protection Agency continue to recommend fluoride in drinking water to prevent tooth decay.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Some Florida cities have removed fluoride. Okaloosa County officials said fluoride is not added to its public water systems. Santa Rosa County also does not add fluoride though some independent providers still fluoridate including Holley-Navarre Water and Gulf Breeze.
