First held in , the French Open may be one of the oldest European badminton tournaments still to have a place on the professional circuit, but it has not always been party to the fame and fortune it now enjoys. After being hosted at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris for much of its recent history, the French Open moved to Brittany for the tournament. In the event returned to the French capital, but not to Stade Pierre de Coubertin: instead, the French Open was staged at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena, the venue selected to host the badminton and Paralympic badminton events at the Summer Olympics.
Standard tickets for the French Open are sold in ranked categories: Gold and Category 1 seats have the best views, whilst Category 3 tickets are the most affordable. Whilst most tournament dates are comprised solely of 1 uninterrupted session, the action on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 March is divided into 2 sessions Afternoon and Evening , with separate tickets required to watch the games in each session. Multi-day tickets are also available, providing the same reserved seat across multiple consecutive dates.
Children aged 2 and under can attend the French Open for free, without a ticket, but they must sit on the lap of a ticket holder. A complimentary entry pass must also be collected from the tournament ticket office upon arrival. Documentation confirming a child's date of birth may be required. There are no discounted tickets for senior citizens and so a full-price ticket must be purchased.
