Exquisitely designed and firmly rooted in its landscape, the Spa offers lots of possibilities — 10 treatment rooms, an organic pharmacy, indoor pool, Yoga and Pilates pavilions, a gym and some custom-built Ayurveda rooms. Food also plays a very important role in Douro Valley's wellness philosophy with some of the ingredients for their delicious and healthy dishes coming from their very own organic garden.
There are mountain bikes and kayaking with which to explore the local area, mediation pods to zone-out in, and clever gadgets which perform wellness screenings, sleep diagnostics and skin analysis. But this is Six Senses after all, so you can expect some deep reaching programmes, with, for maximum impact, shamanic healing in tandem with mitochondrial analysis.
These generously-sized rooms have a very modern yet cozy atmosphere with a spacious seating area and bathroom. They offer views of the pebbled terrace, vineyards or courtyard. Several of the vineyard-facing rooms also have a terrace with seating. There are two Valley Superior rooms, one with a bathtub. Both have access to the shared lounge with a cozy fireplace located on the ground floor. Outside, there are fragrant gardens planted with native shrubs, leading down to a vitality pool and shared swimming pool.
These oversized units are located in the new wing and include a comfortable reading and sitting area and a spacious bathroom. Some of the rooms face the valley and others have a large floor-to-ceiling window with views over the wonderful woodland.
They all have easy access to an elevator. Rooms with terraces have steps to the outside with a small seating area. Located on the exclusive vineyard wing, these rooms have a spacious living room area and enjoy precious privacy. Vineyard Deluxe rooms on the fourth floor have a spacious outside terrace with a large seating space and dining area. Vineyard Deluxe rooms on the fifth floor offer views across the vineyard. They present a different layout that includes a reading and seating area plus a very spacious bathroom.
