Students are provided with skills needed to enter the nursing profession in a variety of health care settings as an entry-level registered nurse. Degree competence is assessed regularly by evaluations of expected learning outcomes in the clinical setting as well as during course examinations; Emphasis is placed on the use of critical thinking and creative problem-solving within the program.

The background check and drug screen policy was instituted in adherence with the Joint Commission and community standards for healthcare providers. The Joint Commission requires any health care facility that requires employees to have personal criminal background checks must also require the same background check for students and volunteers involved in patient care.
The background check and drug screen is not a requirement for admission to the nursing program; however, it must be completed upon admission into the program. All information obtained from the background check and drug screen will be held in strictest confidence. Students are required to complete background check and drug screens each semester or according to the clinical facilities requirement. Application Filing Period: Applications are accepted twice a year beginning the third week of the fall and spring semester.
Each application period will last for three weeks. The dates for filing application for Spring are September , The dates for filing application for Fall are March , Applications are obtained from the nursing department, once an individual has been deemed eligible for admission consideration and receives a "Verification of Eligibility" package from the nursing counselor.
Applications will not be accepted on weekends or holidays. No late or misdirected forms will be accepted. Only complete applications will be reviewed.
