The series, which begins on Monday 3 February, sets out to challenge how British people feel about asylum seekers and immigration by following six people as they experience what life is like for an asylum seeker. The documentary series follows a group of six opinionated people with differing views about immigration as they experience the perilous journeys refugees and migrants make to reach the UK.
The participants are dropped into high risk locations including Mogadishu in Somalia and Raqqa in Syria, considered two of the most dangerous cities on earth.
From there, they travel to countries on migrant routes through Africa, the Middle East and Europe into the UK, facing experiences throughout the journey that challenge their views as they climb over border crossings and experience first hand the terror of small border crossings. It is based on an Australian series that ran between and , over four series.
It is hoped that this will offer up an opportunity for the British public to help understand some of the terrifying perils asylum seekers face when they attempt to travel to the UK.
