This is normal, the edges of the screen have been intentionally de-sensitized in order to prevent accidental gesture triggers on all edges. It sometimes takes multiple attempts to touch some buttons that are placed at extreme edges of screen. If you absolutely cannot touch the mic icon even after multiple touches only then it could be a hardware defect, otherwise it is normal and sadly you can do nothing to fix it. I've been trying to send voice note using whatsapp on my OnePlus 7 Pro and realised that I to am facing this issue. Work around:? I press on the mic button and slide it a little towards left and it works almost 99 percent of the time.
