We started of by using just dildos at first and then used the harness about a month ago and everything was great, no mishaps but I think that was more by luck than good judgment. In terms of cleanliness you could try douching beforehand but we found that it tended to rake away the spontaneity so now we just get on with it and deal with any mess as it happens.
Thanks for the feedback. In my experience, trying to clean either via douche or shower is a mood killer. Just get in with it. I agree the cleaning time definitely takes away from the spontaneity. I rarely douche anymore for a really deep clean, I often find having a proper bowel movement and using a bidet, then keeping a butt plug in for a bit after cleaned up.
In addition to feeling more confident about leaving less mess, I also use that time to stretch before proceedings commence, making it more enjoyable for us both.
