He is almost 6 months and about 18 pounds. The canopy stays up and provides great protection. I love how this one he can lay on his back or belly. Worth the expense for me to have confidence with the baby in the pool. This float is really well made and I feel very confident with it's design. I like that it is not inflatable. The foam inside is very dense. Easily big enough for baby from 3 months - 2 years old to wear in comfortably!
